2024 – A Year of Milestones and Memories

The year 2024 was filled with highlights and milestones, both on and off the track. From multiple Group race successes to promising young horses for the future, as well as rewarding moments in the sales ring, it was a season to remember for Manton Thoroughbreds.

Rashabar – A Royal Ascot Dream

One of the standout stories of 2024 was Rashabar, who gave Manton Thoroughbreds their first-ever Royal Ascot winner in the Group 2 Coventry Stakes. The victory was made even more special with young jockey Billy Loughnane aboard, securing his first Royal Ascot success.

Rashabar went on to prove himself at the very top level, finishing runner-up in two Group 1 contests – the Prix Morny and the Prix Jean-Luc Lagardère.

Jayarebe – A Talent Gone Too Soon

Another unforgettable horse from 2024 was Jayarebe, who started the season in style by winning the Listed Feilden Stakes at Newmarket. He then went on to win the Group 3 Hampton Court Stakes at Royal Ascot and the Group 2 Prix Dollar at Longchamp.

Tragically, Jayarebe was lost at the Breeders’ Cup, but his performances and spirit will always be remembered fondly.

Kathmandu – Racing and Sales Ring Success

Kathmandu also left her mark in 2024, placing in the Group 3 Nell Gwyn Stakes and the Group 1 French 1000 Guineas. Her season ended with a remarkable sales story, being sold for $750,000 at the Fasig-Tipton Sale after being purchased for just 50,000gns at the Tattersalls July Sale. A true example of value turned into brilliance.

Winners Bred by Sam

It was also a proud year for horses bred by Sam, who enjoyed success across the UK and France:

  • Midsummer Dance (out of Dance With Another) – winner in France

  • Akkadian Thunder (out of Akhania) – victories at Newcastle and Doncaster

  • Evelyn’s Phoenix (out of Pebbles Place) – three wins in a progressive season

  • Cap Saint Martin (out of Cap Verite) – broke his maiden in style at the Curragh

Global & Homegrown Success

Beyond the flagship names, 2024 produced a long list of memorable winners:

  • Show Respect – back-to-back victories in Hong Kong

  • Monkey Island, Law Of Design, and Hippocratic Oath – winners for Manton Thoroughbreds

  • Extraordinaire and Cepheus – successful campaigns in Australia

  • Hackney Diamonds – made all at Leicester

  • Karsavina – winner at Cork

  • Von Baer – back-to-back victories through July and August

  • Invincible Song – winner at Ripon

  • Sabrimento – winner at Bath

The 2024 season brought moments of triumph, moments of loss, and moments we will never forget. Horses like Rashabar, Jayarebe, and Kathmandu left lasting memories, and it was a year that will always be cherished in the history of Manton Thoroughbreds.
